We love sharing our Lake District home

WELCOMING B&B AND SELF-CATERING GUESTS FOR OVER 100 YEARS

There is a long and rich history of travellers to the Lake District staying at The Mount, which was recorded in the 1911 census as a guest house. Over the decades it has earnt the reputation as ‘the’ place to stay. Since taking over in 2016 we have loved meeting guests, many of whom return again and again. We have even met an evacuee from World War II who lived in one of our lovely B&B rooms, and someone who first visited The Mount over 50 years ago as a young man, and many times since.

Most of the year The Mount is a beautiful B&B near Keswick.

Our guests love our Aga-cooked delicious breakfasts, free parking, fantastic modern showers and indulgent toiletries from Pure Lakes. Walks from the door, for two and four-legged guests and all our top tips on the best places to eat, swim, cycle and park – it is a fantastic boutique bed and breakfast near Catbells, Skiddaw and other Wainwright walks in the Lake District.

Looking for a dog-friendly holiday home in the Lakes, in the school holidays?

We offer exclusive use of the whole house for summer holidays in the Lake District, as well as Easter, Christmas and New Year breaks. The beautiful garden, cosy lounge and elegant dining room make this an ideal holiday home for groups of up to 10.

Our guests love our Lake District art

Throughout the guest house we have art that we have collected from around the world, from Caroline’s childhood in Fiji and Kenya, to our lives together in Brighton, as well as from some amazing Lake District artists like Maria Burton and Pat Cremer.

Some guests come especially to enjoy the garden

We are incredibly proud that our garden has been awarded the Lake District National Park Trophy and a GOLD award by Cumbria in Bloom. We are also opening the garden as part of the National Garden Scheme in June.

Keswick has been voted the most dog-friendly town in England.

Keswick is full of dog-friendly cafes, pubs and shops – and there are lots of great walks for dogs in the area. Our aim is to make your dog feel ever so welcome! They can come down for breakfast, and we would love them to meet our working cocker spaniel, Peppa.
