24 Jul A quick trip up to Bonnie Scotland
It was one of the days when we needed a drive after working flat-out on preparing the guest house for our first visitors. We have always loved Scotland – Caroline formerly lived in Stirling and both of us have had many holidays there – although we had little experience of Dumfries and Gallaway.
There are many day-light hours during a summer’s day in the Borders, so an hour and three-quarter drive to Scotland seemed worth it. We didn’t realise how special it was until we stumbled across Rockcliffe
Rockcliffe is perfect for messing about on the beach – it reminded us of some places in Devon & Corwall.
It is a magical place – with some idyllic homes right on the coast.
We had a great walk out to Rough Island…
…although we saved exploring the island for another occasion to avoid upsetting the nesting Oyster Catchers.
